Reflecting on "La Venus," a track he wrote for the top credit of X Japan doc We Are X, bandleader Yoshiki singled it out as particular. "This could possibly be X Japan's signature music for the subsequent period," the drummer and pianist stated of the dramatic ballad in a promo clip for the movie. "That might be my favourite."
Above, hear the alternate acoustic model of the music, which comes out March third as a part of the official We Are X soundtrack. Over Yoshiki's flowing piano and swelling orchestral strings, X Japan singer Toshi belts out the track's hovering hook: "Until we die, I will be loving you pricey/Until we fly from right here to heaven."
Launched in 2016, We Are X tells the story of the Japanese band's wild three-decade-plus journey, throughout which Yoshiki has weathered the suicide of 1 core member, former guitarist Disguise, and the brainwashing of one other, Toshi himself, by a spiritual cult. The group's flamboyant mix of high-energy metallic and arena-friendly rock, coupled with its signature "visible kei" aesthetic, has gained it a legion of followers worldwide.
The We Are X soundtrack is out March 3rd, and the next night time, March 4th, X Japan will headline London's SSE Area at Wembley. We Are X will probably be launched on Blu-ray and DVD on April 25th.
